A Fruit Tree

A FRUIT TREE

Behold within the self-same tree
Two birds, two sweet friends.
One enjoys the ripened fruit,
The other looks but does not eat.

On such a tree my spirit crouched.
Saddened by its restlessness.
Till seeing with joy how great its Lord,
It found from sorrow swift release.
From the Shvetashvatara Upanishad
