The Generation Tree

THE GENERATION TREE

Most peoples have recorded their family trees,
those graphic images of continuity from generation
to generation. In the West, the most common
religious example is the “root of Jesse” which
pictorially represents the ancestry of Jesus, bright
blossom on Jesse’s deep root. In Far Eastern
cultures ancestor trees sometimes show tiny human
bodies perched in them like birds sitting in
ascending branches, growing forward in time.
