As Meinrad was educated in Catholic schools, the stories of the saints and mystics were familiar to her. She wrote:
“During a stay of over twenty years in Europe as an adult, these saints and mystics became a living reality for me. It was like finding them again, as I became familiar with the great historic churches and holy places associated with them. There is no measuring the impact these women had on me as I began to grasp the depth of their divine insights and their own importance as wise and courageous women in the societies in which they lived. Sometime during 2009 I understood that I needed to work with images of their stories and I chose these seven women.”
